"Nostromo: A Tale of the Seaboard" by Joseph Conrad is a novel published in 1904. Set in the fictional South American republic of Costaguana, the story follows the charismatic Italian longshoreman Nostromo as he attempts to smuggle a fortune in silver away from revolutionary forces. What begins as a daring mission becomes a tale of corruption, obsession, and the devastating cost of secret wealth.
