Next, an Egyptian potsherd coveted by a suave new neighbor leads to eerie séances and a daring theft; the twist shows that “Doctor Zeda” and the phantom singer were Klaw in disguise and Isis, retrieving the artifact as a matter of poetic justice. The third tale opens with Klaw and allies called to Crespie Hall, where a new owner is found slain by a crusader’s ax in the old banqueting hall, setting the stage for another impossible‑seeming mystery.
